Boda boda operators in Nairobi now say they have become soft spot for gangs and rogue matatu operators.
In a meeting held today at Uhuru Park Bodaboda Safety Association of Kenya chairman Ken Onyango says ,they have lost many colleagues in the hands of gangs pretending to be customers and use them to commit crimes and later attack them.
The latest casualty is Benson Kanyabari who was beaten to death by rogue matatu operators at stage 44 when he was trying to save his customer from being robbed.
Meanwhile they are now engaging the police to ensure that all boda boda riders acquire and must have a card that identifies the operators’ stage and their full names.
According to him the move will help the residents identify each and every individual to avoid cases of crime.
Areas that have implemented the use of identification card is Umoja,Kariobangi ,CBD ,Kawangware ,Kangemi and Langata .
