Boda Boda Rider Kills Teenager Over Remote Control

Police in Kisumu have arrested boda boda rider suspected to have killed a teenager and seriously wounded another on the neck in Nyamasaria on Sunday morning.

The suspect Identified as Stephen Opiyo was engaged in a spat with the minor at 3am on Sunday over a Television remote control.

He then surrendered himself at the Kisumu Central Police Station to confess.

Opiyo was reportedly well known to the family of the Ochieng who lived in Nyamasaria Estate in Kisumu.

The suspect is said to have visited Ochieng’s home and after supper ,he decided to spend the night and watch movie with the deceased alongside his 13 year old friend.

“It was around 3.30 am when I heard the commotion at my neighbor’s place, when we arrived we found Dickens Ochieng killed and his body lying on the floor in a pool of blood while the other boy was left with serious wounds on his neck,” explains the witness.

County Commander Samuel Anampiu confirmed the incident and said they have launched investigations .

“The suspect and the two boys were residing in the same house. What transpired to this we are yet to discover, we have launched investigations to establish the real motive behind the incident,” said Anampiu.

The other boy is currently battling for his life at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital while the deceased was taken to the mortuary in the same Hospital.

The suspest was placed in custody at Kasagam Police station.
