Nairobi-Mombasa Highway has today experienced traffic snarl-up following a heated protest by bodaboda operators at Syokimau and Mlolongo areas.

They were demonstrating over torching of their 6 motorbikes in the yesterday’s anti government protest that marred the country.

They have condemned the incident demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrators who were masquerading as protesters.

“We want to ask Gen Zs please keep off our businesses you  can imagine setting to fire six motorbikes which is a source of livelihood…we shall not allow that to happen again and be ready to face us in your next protests. We are not against you people going to the street to fight for your rights but don’t use the same to destroy and steal from us…This is also a clear warning to the the police that if you can not protect us from these goons destroying our properties then they will not like it.” They said.

Syokimau Bodaboda Association chairman Alex Mutuku have called on the police to take action failure to which they will continue holding demos.

“Hata sisi tutaendelea kufanya maandamano mpaka tupate haki kwa wale waliopoteza ndudhi zao.Its painful and we shall not take it lightly with Gen Zs and authorities.” Mutuku told the media.

Association Reactions

Meanwhile Bodaboda Safety Association of Kenya  chairman Kevin Mubadi condemned the incident demanding justice for the victims.

Mubadi asked Gen Zs to ensure that their protest are peaceful to avert future lawlessness and possible skirmishes.

“We must uphold the law at all time wewe ukichoma nduthi ya mtu unaexpect aje aweke chakula kwa meza.Gen Zs we are watching you keenly and please do not provoke bodaboda operators because it shall not end well but we don’t want to go that direction. We support you but respect our properties.” He added.
