Bodaboda riders in Nairobi have condemned the ongoing operation targeting them by the police saying the move has cost them a lot.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio News Dan Rioba a rider at Central Business District says he was arrested on Monday by the police just next to Serena Hotel and later charged with counts he did not commit.
“I was arrested next to Serena Hotel… the officer did not explain to me my offence we were bangled in a police vehicle and whisked away together with two of my colleagues, painfully when we were arraigned in Kibra law courts we had different counts some cooked by the police.. This is not Kenya we want and I want to ask my president William Ruto to protect hustlers because he promised to do so during campaigns,” Rioba said.
There are concerns of increased crimes in the city allegedly involving bodaboda operators, prompting the police to conduct sting operation.
“Not all of us are thieves. Let us have a proper way of weeding out these criminals we are also tired of constant harassment by the police and stigmatization,” Rioba added.
