Yet another body of an infant has been retrieved at Nairobi River by Komb Green Solutions a youth group in Korogocho slums cleaning the river, bringing the total number of retrieved bodies to 17.
The body was fresh and was found floating on the river with umbilical cord still attached to it.
Komb Green Solutions chairman Fredrick Okinda blamed the police for not taking necessary steps to bring perpetrators to book and that children who see bodies being retrieved are psychologically traumatised.
‘‘We have so many children playing at the renovated Korogocho People’s Park. Seeing the bodies being retrieved affects them psychologically ,” he said.
Meanwhile environment executive member Vesca Kangogo has asked those who can not take care of their new-borns to stop giving birth.
‘‘We can not leave in this kind of society.. parents educate your children , it’s a matter that has also attracted even foreign envoys. We have over 100 tourists who have so far toured our recreational parks,” Veska said.
