A body part of a fisherman who was attacked and killed by a crocodile last week at Dunga Beach, Kisumu County has been recovered.
The thigh of the said fisherman was brought ashore following a massive search mounted by fishermen, Kenya Coast Guards and KWS officers.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio, the deceased’s brother Dickson Otieno says Gabriel Okoth Oduogo was attacked by the crocodile on Friday last week at around 9am while he was out fishing.
“I got a call from his colleagues that Gabriel has been attacked by crocodile at around 10am. I rushed there organized and borrowed a boat but the search never bore any fruit. We were now staying at Dunga beach as we continued with the search,” said Odongo.
“We got assistance from Coast Guards and KWS. Today we got part of his body the right thigh up the waist after a six-day search,” explains Dickson Otieno.
Otieno is now appealing to the government to assist them with the burial preparation.
“We are requesting for support and prayers during these hard times,” he added.
The identified part of the body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
