There was panic and confusion at the Multimedia University of Kenya when a student was arrested for allegedly assembling an improvised explosive device on Thursday morning.
But police have allayed fears that the object at the University was an IED.
Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said they found out that the object is a computer motherboard with capacitors connected to it.
He intimates that the third year student had complained about losing a project he was working on
The county commander says that bomb experts went to the scene after they received an alert and took away the device.
Meanwhile several police officers are feared dead after their vehicle ran over a landmine on Malelei-Kulan road in Liboi, Garissa County.
It is alleged that close to five officers had died in the attack.
This comes barely hours after eight people among them police officers were yesterday killed and two others injured when their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device in Kulan, Liboi area, Garissa County.
