Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has launched Uhuru Complex Sports Arena marking a major milestone in nurturing talents in sports in Eastlands and Nairobi at large.
The arena will serve residents in Uhuru Estate, Kariobangi South/Uhuru Ward in Embakasi West Sub-County.
The sports arena has a football pitch, a basketball court, and a convertible court that can be used for netball volleyball, handball. It also has a multipurpose hall to host indoor games like chess, table tennis among other sports. The sports complex also has a boxing ring to hold boxing matches and training.
Addressing the Governor Sakaja reiterated his commitment to improve and develop sports facilities in Nairobi in support of youth talents and abilities.

“We will continue to build, develop and maintain more sports facilities in the city. We recently opened Dandora Stadium, now it’s Uhuru Complex Sports Arena and we have lined up works in Joe Kadenge Stadium, Woodley, Kihumbuini, Ziwani Githurai and Mukuru in this financial year,” Governor Sakaja said.
The Governor also revealed plans to take back all county’s sports facilities including Camp Toyoyo.
“Camp Toyoyo is a county facility and we are soon we will be working on it including laying a new turf. We are also in the process of coming up with a board to run and maintain our sports facilities”. He added.
