Boy child asked to participate more in making decisions on contraceptives
As the world marks the World Contraception Day today, men have been urged to embrace the use of contraception and stop associating it with girls only.
Secretary of The Link NGO in Githurai Kennedy Odhiambo says says that men should try and sit down with their partners to deliberate on the contraceptive they can use.
Currently the boy-child can only use condoms a method of birth control.
“Most of us men do not care much about the forms of contraceptives our partners use. It is good to sit with your partners and make a decision on the kind of contraceptive our partners are going to use. We need to help the ladies make the decisions,” said Odhiambo.
Lucy Arunga Of The Link NGO has also urged young girls to show up at a medical camp they are organizing in Githurai today to get cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening and other contraceptives.
“Covid-19 has kind of made access to contraceptive services for girls a bit hard, so tomorrow, we shall offer all these services for free here in Githurai,” she said.
This year’s World Contraception Day theme is Communication strategy.
