Top National Cereals and Produce board (NCPB) have been arrested over the fake fertilizer scandal that hit the country.
It is alleged that the officials were arrested at 8 pm on Tuesday by the police and taken to police custody this evening.
The officers arrested with regards to the scandal are NCPB’s Managing Director Joseph Kimote, NCPB’S corporation secretary John Ngetich and NCPB’S marketing and operations director John Matiri.
This follows an expose’ by the Africa uncensored media company which uncovered how some farmers were duped into purchasing packaged sand instead of the real fertilizer.
The allegations were however refuted by Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi who termed them as political witch hand.
This is unfolding hours after National assembly speaker Moses Wetangula allowed an impeachment motion against Linturi.
While giving the go ahead to the motion, Wetangula was satisfied that it met all requirements of the law and allowed MP Jack Wamboka to move the motion of impeachment.
