After waiting for Jamaican reggae sensation Mark Anthony Myrie polpularly known as Buju Banton, Kenyan reggae lovers finally got their wish to watch the legend perform last Saturday.

Buju jetted into the country on Thursday night ahead of the Saturday concert and even had a chance to visit a childrens home and Maasai Market before the concert.

On Saturday,  a huge crowd turned up at the KICC to watch the Gargamel pelt some of his legendary hits of all time.

Buju Banton alongside his enigmatic 10-piece Shiloh Band performed for close to four hours from around mid night to the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The opening acts for the night were a mixture of veteran reggae deejays and MCs. like DJ Double,Trouble, DJs Kace, Selector Technix and ZJ Heno with reggae crooner Lavosti and Fyah Mummah Jahmby Koikai making her first major live appearance since returning to the country following a year long treatment in the United States.

Emerging from his backstage tent wearing dark shades, a goldchain, black t-shirt with matching back shoes, dressed in ankara suit with matching sunflower patterns designed by Kenya’s fashion designer Avido, Buju was drowned by a sea of phone lights with crowds of concertgoers straining for a glimpse of the perfect picture and video.
“How are you Africa?” Buju kicked off with ‘Mama Africa,’ sprinkling candid remarks of his hopes for the motherland.
Buju had the crowd dancing and singing along as he sang hits like Destiny, It’s not an easy road, Hills and Valleys, Lord Give I strength, some of his latest like Steppa, Trust, Mr. Nine, No Respect, God Of My Salvation and Driver among others.
The peak of the concert however was when Buju Banton invited Ugandan singer and politician Bobi Wine on stage and wowed fans as they sung together but all in all judging from the tweets shared by reggae lovers across the internet, Buju sure gave one stunning performance.
