Four people lost their lives and four others critically wounded after a bus lost control and crashed into pedestrians in Kangemi on Wednesday evening.
The driver is said to have been going down a steep slope when the accident took place in Waruku.
Witnesses said the vehicle that plies the Westlands-Uthiru route but that the driver opted for Waruku rough road to avoid a traffic snarl-up on Waiyaki Way.
The vehicle’s brakes failed while descending the 200 meter slope. Witnesses say, the bus was stopped by the wall of a building at the bottom of the incline.
The injured were rushed to Riverside Medical center where one of them died while receiving treatment.
The bus driver fled from the scene.
