BUS operators plying the Nairobi – Coast route are blaming the low revenue during this festive season to SGR.

One of the managers running the Genesis fleet of buses plying the Coast route attributed the low revenue to the low passenger turn out this year.

He stated that most passengers preferred to use the SGR due to the time taken to get to their destinations.

“The fare prices are just normal 1500 to Mombasa as compared to previous seasons which the fare hiked up to 2000,” he stated.

One of the passengers however attributed the low passenger turn out to the economy, saying most people lack money.

“The festive season mood is low because most people have nothing to celebrate about as the economy is down.”
