Business men in Shauri Moyo near the Shauri Moyo police station are counting losses after their business premises were brought down.
The businessmen who are mainly small scale traders, woke up on Thursday morning to find county askaris and the police demolishing their businesses.
According to an eye witness, the affected business owners claim that they were not served any notice before the demolitions.
“There was no notice given, we just found county askaris and police bringing down the premises. The Askaris however claim they gave out the notice long ago but we have not received any.” She said
The traders are now pointing an accusing finger at the nearby Catholic church saying they are behind the demolitions.
“There is word going round that this Catholic church is behind the demolitions because of insecurity. We are not sure but that is what we hear.” She added
The traders now want the county government to give them space to operate their businesses.
