The Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia and Bandari FC are among the sides geared up for a continental rivalry in the CAF confederation cup kick off.
Gor Mahia will be facing with Madagascan Side Caisse Nationale de Prevoyance Sociale Sport (CNAPS) in the first leg match.
This is according to the club’s Organizing Secretary David Kiilo who told the official league portal. He said that to have an impressive show, they have lined up a couple of high profile friendly matches.
“For a third time in a row, Gor will be the country’s flag bearers in the continental competition, by virtue of winning the local league and while they have not done so well in the past, this time they are preparing well, eyeing to carry forward their 2015 form into the prestigious competition,” he said.
Expect new things
“We have planned some intensive training sessions complete with friendly matches with both local and foreign teams. This year we have vowed that we shall not be the whipping boys of the Champions League. Instead, we aspire to go past the group stages of the tournament,” he continued.
K’Ogallo will face the match without some of its notable players.
Meddie Kagere and Michael Olunga are some of the main players the club lost during the transfer window. The two managed to score more than half of the goals the team had last Season.
The club has however lined up its Key players ahead of tomorrow’s match. Boniface Oluoch who stood out and won FOYA best keeper award, Musa Mohammed,Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth,Jacques Tuyisenge as well as Jacob Kelly
The match will be played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, 13th February 2016 before a return leg a fortnight later.
Meanwhile, Bandari is expected to fly out of the country for DRC Congo ahead of the clash against St Eloi Lupopo
