Day 2 of the (CECAFA) Under-18 Boys regional Championship moved to Kakamega after the opening games in Kisumu County.

In the opening match of group B Zanzibar clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over South Sudan courtesy of Moh’d Moh’d’s solitary goal.

Later in the 3 PM kick-off, Tanzania also emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Uganda. Shariff Wilson’s early goal proved to be the deciding factor.

Meanwhile the Kenya National U-18 Boys team, Junior Stars, kicked off their campaign with a 5-0 victory over Sudan on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium.

Louise Ingavi scored a brace with his initial goal giving Kenya the lead in the 7th minute, Tyron Kariuki weaved past the Sudanese defense and placed a through pass for Ingavi who slotted it home.

Building on his earlier assist, Tyron this time turned goal scorer notching Kenya’s second goal in the 29th minute.

Aldrine Kibet furthered the lead in the 33rd minute and Ingavi scored his second of the match just before the half time break.

Team Kenya took a 4-0 advantage into halftime. The second half witnessed the fifth and final goal from Elly Owade in the 88th minute.

In the tournament’s opening fixture between Somalia and Rwanda, team Rwanda emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, courtesy of a goal scored by Bobo Sibomana Sultan.

Kenya tops group A and they play their second match against second placed Rwanda on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, 12 noon.

The tournament take a one day break and will resume on Tuesday featuring group A encounters.

On the same day Somalia will compete against Sudan at 3 PM in Kisumu.
