Census Workers Not Paid Several Weeks After End Of Process

Over 50 Elders from Kariobangi South who participated in the 2019 census process have raised complaints over non payment of dues, seven weeks after the census process was completed.

This is after a section the elders, supervisors and enumerators received their payment three weeks ago with others still waiting for their cash.

Kelvin Ng’ang’a one of the elders says that they have not received their cash for the last three weeks and yet other elders who did the same work in the area have already received theirs.

“We feel wasted because we stopped a lot of activities to carry out the work thinking we will be paid but there is still nothing.” He adds

Kelvin says that the payment of the elders was to be done through mobile money and that most people who have not received their payments were from Airtel and Telkom network providers.

“We want the government to acknowledge this and take action because all we want is money for the work we had done.”
