Majority of Kenyans are slowly embracing the Covid-19 precautions placed by the government in a move to curb the spread of Covid-19.
This discovery has been made during the ongoing #ChezaClean campaign being conducted by Ghetto Radio in partnership with Parrot Group, Shell and the Nairobi Metropolitan Service.
The ChezaClean Campaign involves a caravan traversing Nairobi Estates sensitizing people and educating them on Covid-19 disease.
We sought to speak to Ghetto Radio Reporter who has been covering the campaign and he gave us his opinion and on-ground observation.
“The feeling on the ground is 50-50, many people still say that there is no Covid-19. You try to engage them they ask you to show them your relative who has Covid-19 or one who has died of Covid-19,” said Milo.
The campaign which is giving people free soap, hand sanitizers and masks also sets to educate Nairobians on the importance of wearing masks, keeping social distance and washing hands with soap and running water.
“Our follow ups in areas we have visited however show that people are however slowly embracing the precautions, like you will find that they have washed their hands, they trying to keep social distance though slowly,” said Milo.
Areas visited so far are Rongai, Syokimau, Kitengela, Zimmerman, Ngong, Kayole Junction, Komarock, Umoja and Jogoo Road among other areas.
Some follow ups done on areas that have already been visited during the campaign shows a change in the behavior of people.
