Bodaboda Association of Kenya is now accusing local administration officers in Kiambu and Murang’a counties of colluding with bodaboda riders to flout lockdown measures put by the president.
In an interview with Ghetto radio, the association’s chairman Kevin Mubadi claims that area chiefs at the at Kiambu-Murang’a borders are collecting bribes to allow the bodaboda operators to cross to Kiambu and Murang’a.
“We have several reports of these cases and I want to call upon Regional Commissioner Central Province to pounce on the rogue officers who are facilitating the bodaboda movement at the Thika borders.
Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Machakos and Kajiado counties are under partial lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.
“I want to appreciate Regional Commissioner Rift Valley George Natembeya for his efforts in ensuring the bodaboda operators are contained and as we speak it is difficult to find an operator ferrying passengers outside zoned areas,” he said.
