A woman from Nairobi’s Majengo slums was yesterday reunited with her lost daughter who has been missing for one and a half years.

Irene Karuiya says that she found her seven year old daughter in a children’s home in Githurai in what looks like a child theft scheme.

Karuiya told Ghetto Radio News that she received a tip from a friend this year who told her that she knew where her daughter has been since last year.

The friend told her that the girl is being held at a children’s home Called Selekta Children’s home in Githurai.

Upon reaching the children’s home, Karuiya claims that the owner of the children’s home known as Ziporah Njogu demanded that she gives her Ksh. 50,000 for taking care of her daughter.

She however questioned why the woman refused to call her and alert her since her daughter knew her number off head.

The girl also told Ghetto Radio News that the woman had refused to give her a phone to call her mother.

She says they were kept in very deplorable conditions and subjected to heavy domestic chores.
