Westlands Member Parliament Tim Wanyonyi  yesterday joined the area’s senior citizens for Christmas celebrations.

As is always the norm, the MP brought happiness to the elderly in the constituency when he delivered Christmas goodies to them.

At the same time, he shared a sweet cake with the residents who are always almost forgotten in the society due to their advanced age.

To him, he said he will always remember and break bread with them just like he mingles with the youths during campaigns, seminars and other activities in the constituency.

“…some used to say I have forgotten you…but I will always have a special time with all of you..,” he assured them as he offered them the gifts.

During campaigns, he said, the elderly are not involved so much due to their advanced age owing to the nature of activities that happen during campaign period.

He implored on the younger generation to take care of their ageing parents as they are a rare gem.

On his part, he said he will continue paying for the elderly’s National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) monthly contributions as one of his ways to appreciate and supporting them.

“I will continue paying for your NHIF so that whenever you fall ill, you can receive treatment in our hospitals,” he reiterated his pledge.
