Nairobi county government has now deployed health officers to Majengo slums to try and address the cholera outbreak in the area that left one person dead.
The officers are mainly from the disease surveillance unit and public health .
In an interview with Ghetto Radio News public health officer in charge of communication Llilian Mutua says the team will conduct public awareness about cholera as well as address the sanitation lapses in the area.
‘‘Our officers are on the ground to at least address the sanitation issues and also intermingle with the community leaders to enhance awareness.. but we want to tell Majengo and Kamukunji residents in general that we can stop cholera before we are diagnosed with it.. it’s preventable we only need to improve our hygiene’’ Lilian said.
The residents have faulted the county government for not taking seriously sanitation matters in the area especially water that is being administered to the residents.
Those have with signs and symptoms of the disease were rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
