Nairobi county government has warned the striking Nurses and Clinical officers saying their action is illegal following an agreement that was reached between the nurses, clinical officers unions and county on 8th last week Friday.
According to Nairobi health executive member Veska Kango they had an agreement with union officials to effect the promotion as they demanded in their strike notice letter.
‘’We have promoted 2153 medical staffs across the health sector and we agreed that this process would be gradual and we didn’t expect this strike…the governor directed us to effect all promotions for the medical staffs and we have letters here with us.’’ Kangogo said.
Veska added that they have made contingency measures to ensure that the strike does not affect the operations at county health facilities.
KUCO through its secretary general George Gibore blamed the county for not promoting any clinical officer since devolution.
They also want harmonization of salaries of all medical staffs under county government payroll.
Affected hospitals are Mbagathi,Mutuini,Mama Lucy and Pumwani Maternity Hospital
