A cobbler in Action Estate, Iten Road in Eldoret has died after he was mauled by stray dogs.
On Wednesday, Sila’s neighbors woke up to the horrific scenario of his remains after the dogs mauled him to death.
The residents said the dogs also mauled their livestock rendering them poor amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to a local journalist, the residents say the area has about 50 to 100 stray dogs that have been roaming about instilling fear in the residents.
“The man who was eaten by the killer dogs was named Sila. He was a cobbler and he was a friend of mine. The incident we just witnessed was not the first one as a woman was also killed 100 metres away from this scene three months ago,” a neighbor said
Neighbors say that Sila, a well known cobbler in the area, was on his way home when he was attacked by the dogs.
Confirming the incident, the area chief say the dogs only left the man’s head which is how he was identified.
The irate resident have now vowed to kill the dogs despite the County government of Uasin Gishu prohibiting it.
“We are going to take action going forward, We cannot allow dogs to cause loss of life in this region as we just sit back after the County Assembly passed a law saying they should not be killed.”
