County Union Threatens to Sue Sonko Over Suspension Of 16 Top County Officials
Nairobi County government workers Union has now threaten to take Nairobi governor Mike Sonko to court following his suspension of 16 county officials following the recent tragedy at Precious Talent Academy that killed eight pupils.
In an exclusive interview with Ghetto Radio News the Nairobi County Government Workers Secretary General Boniface Waweru says they are only waiting the suspension letters from the county human resource , analyse them and submit them to their legal team.
‘‘You can not suspend your employees without following due process we have labour laws and its clear that you must issue show cause letters to an employee before they explain themselves, you suspend them’’ Waweru said.
Through a statement on Wednesday, Sonko suspended 16 top officials to pave way for investigations.
Those suspended include Charles Kerich, the current County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance and Economic Planning, who is the immediate former CECM for Lands and Urban Planning, Mohammed Dagane – CECM Health (responsible for general public health and safety) Justus Kathenge suspended County Chief Officer for Urban Planning (to continue in suspension] Jusper Ndeke Director Planning Compliance and Enforcement among others.
The union is expected to give another comprehensive statement tomorrow.
