Kenya on Saturday recorded 699 new cases of Covid-19 raising the country’s confirmed total coronavirus cases to 25,837.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the new cases are from 7,175 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours.
Out of the new cases 675 are Kenyans while 24 are foreigners. 427 are men while 272 are female. The youngest of the new cases is a one year old child while the oldest is 85 years old.
In the same time frame, 781 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Kenya raising the total number of recoveries to 11,899. CS Kagwe said 125 of them were discharged from various hospitals while 656 were under home-based care programs.
Five patients succumbed to coronavirus in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of fatalities to 418.
The CS further cautioned Kenyans against carrying out traditional rites of passage like circumcision without adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines.
“We want to ensure that no circumcision ceremonies are held without the protocols that are required to save everyone,” Kagwe said
