Cabinet Secretary of Health Susan Nakhumicha yesterday distributed Kenyan-made smartphones to community health promoters in Nyandarua and Laikipia Counties.
Through twitter account of Ministry of Health,CS Susan Nakhumicha assured the community health promoters that they will receive the smartphones and monthly stipends.
”Leo niko hapa kuhakikisha ya kwamba community health promoters mumepata your smartphones. Rais pia aliagiza ya kwamba akisema tuweze kuwapatia stipends,kwa miaka mingi mumekuwa mkifanya kazi ya kujitolea. Hakuna mtu alikuwa anarecognize efforts zao,”
”Lakini sasa your efforts are being recognized and the agreement is that is that we do a matching to the stipends.County Government walete kitu nusu na sisi pia tulete nusu. Kama National Government we have said we will give 2500 Ksh per community health promoter a month,”
”County Government ameniambia wanapeana 2000Ksh lakini sasa wanafanaya hesabu pia wafikishe 2500 Ksh ndio mwisho wa mwezi unapata sabuni ya elfu tano,si hiyo ni kazi nzuri rais amefanya?Na mimi nangojea tu County Government wameniambia tu wako tayari because yetu ya National Government is ready for disbursement.Once the County Government is ready we will give them our money na tupange kazi iendelee mbele.”She said.

CS Susan Nakhumicha was also welcomed by Governor Joshua Irungu to oversee the distribution of locally assembled and customized smartphones to Community Health Promoters (CHPs) at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital .

1.Smartphones allow patients in under-served and rural areas the rare chance to receive medical advice.
2. It will enable them to share health data and consult with the appropriate community health worker or medic.
3.It will also allow easier accessibility and data exchange between the patient and community health promoters .
