Muthurwa based Dallas FC clinched the 47th edition of the Kothbiro annual soccer tournament after dispatching unlucky Ruaraka sportive 8-7 on penalty shootouts before a mammoth crowd at the Ziwani Umeme Grounds.
The match ended 0-0 during the stormy 90 minutes duration time before heading to the dreaded penalties.
Nevertheless,the match was marked with several stoppages .During the penalties,the match was halted after the fifth shootout after fans from both teams took law into their hands by chasing each other and throwing chairs and bottles of water all over the pitch.
The match however resumed with tension reigning the air.
The winners were awarded with ksh.75,000, while the runners- up received 50,000 and 25,000 including trophies.
During the penalty shootouts,Dallas coached by Stephen Balozi Ochieng converted their spotkicks through Evans Irungu,Sammy Ben, Michael Amanda, Griffin’s Maloba,Eliakim Muange,Tyron Owino,During Musa and Oscar Masikia.
Ruaraka side led by Collins Gatuso scored their penalties via Derrick Owino, Brian Juma, Nanjero Veron, Tyson Odhiambo,Kelvin Omondi,Lewis Manami and Gatuso while David Mangala shot hit the post to send Dallas fans to storm inside the pitch amid ululation.
