Dandora Residents Storm City Hall Demanding Completion of Dandora Stadium Project

Dandora Residents have today stormed City Hall and KICC demanding answers as to why Dandora stadium stalled just 80 percent to its completion.

The residents camped outside the two premises for hours since morning demanding answers from the Nairobi Metropolitan boss Mohamed Badi and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

“Sonko and Badi should come out and address this matter our youths are averting back to crime and drugs,”they said.

Ethics and Anti Corruption stopped the construction after launching investigation into the project where it was alluded that the contractor used substandard materials.

Bunge la Wananchi chairman JohnMark Ababu on the other hand blamed EACC for the whole delay.

“Two years doing investigation and arresting no one means all is well let’s give Sonko chance to complete this project,” he added.

The construction of the Dandora stadium was stopped in 2018 after EACC raised an alarm over embezzlement of funds meant for construction and use of substandard materials for construction.

Dandora is among the four stadiums Sonko had planned to construct during his tenure.

Over Ksh. 1 Billion had been set aside for the whole project and only Dandora Stadium has since been constructed.
