The Sterling Under 13 Ladies Basketball Championship kicked off on Thursday 6th July 2023 at the Nyayo National stadium Gymnasium.
African Nazarene University started off with a win against Foot Prints Basketball team 44-8.
In the second match of the day Sparks saw off Switch 64-19 while Lady Rebels defeated Swords 42-26.
Jomo Kenyatta of Agriculture and Technology defeated Beez 44-33 and in the final match of the day Lady Rebels of Umoja Estate defeated stubborn Kibra’s Scarlet’s 48-44.
The tournament continues today with four matches lined up at the same venue.
In Group A African Nazerene University (ANU) will square it out with Zetech University while Switch will take on United States International University (USIU) in the second day of the Championship.
Zetech and Switch will play the final match of group A.
In Group B Scarlet will take on Strathmore University, Beez vs Lady Rebels and the final match of the Group will be Strathmore taking on JKUAT.
The finals are scheduled to be played on Sunday at the same venue and the winner is expected to walk away with Ksh 200,000 courtesy of Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga.
The second, third and fourth will receive Sh 50,000, Sh 30,000 and Sh 40,000 respectively.
Sterling Inc Chief Executive Officer Job Waka thanked the Sponsors who came on board to support the event.
