Police in Kiamaiko Mathare were today forced to lobe teargas canisters to disperse protesters who invaded Kariobangi North,Huruma estates to demand Justice for Galano Hassan Waqo who was allegedly shot dead by Huruma based police.
They engage the police in running battles that lasted 5 hours.
“Imekua shida leo vijana kutoka kwa community wa huyo kijana alishutiwa wameleta noma sana wamevurugana wakitaka haki.Lakini kitu tunaomba ni amani tumeporwa mavibanda zetu za nguo zimeporwa sana na Hawa vijana wa Borana..tutafute haki ya amani.” James Kimani Hawker Kariobangi North stage told Ghetto Radio News.
But as they were protesting some engaged in looting spree where several shops and vibanda in Kariobangi were looted.
“Have lost my goods and money they accosted me inside my shop and looted everything walikuwa na visu na wamenitishia..wakati nilikua nasubiri polisi wafike lakini ilikua too late mapolisi wenyewe walilemewa.”Waithera told Ghetto Radio News.
Investigations by Various Agencies
Meanwhile while the family has recorded statement with the police and various security agencies.
Independent Policing Overnight Authority IPOA has confirmed that it has started investigations into the matter to unravel the circumstances under which Galano was shot and the officers involved.

Galanos’ father has slammed the police saying Galano has never involved himself in stealing.
“Amepigwa kama nyoka huyu mtoto wangu …wamepiga yeye risasi tatu yaani alipiga kama wametumwa …hii si maneno madogo amewacha bibi na watoto wawili hata hatujui tutawasaidia aje familia tunataka haki.’’ Galanos’ father said.
They have called on president William Ruto to reign on police officer perpetrating extrajudicial killings in Kiamaiko.
“Hii serikali ya rais Ruto ituambia kama wanafaa Kutua ama vipi haki tumechoka …tunataka justice alikua ametetea mtu ameshikwa na wakamlipua risasi.Pia wamepiga babake it is purely business they wanted financed from him.” Amina added.
