Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Tuesday intercepted cash 15 million US dollars in fake currency within Nairobi’s Pangani estate.
During the raid, the detectives also arrested 29 year old Yassin Ahmed Osman who was found at the scene.
Through a tweet, the DCI tweeted that they acted on a tip off from the public and found the money stashed in a bag.
“Over 15 million fake US Dollars were early today Seized from a room at Eden House Flats in Pangani Shopping Centre- Nairobi, & a 29-Year-Old suspect; Mr. Yassin Ahmed OSMAN arrested. Acting on intelligence, Detectives stormed the Hse and conducted a search upon which a Black Bag,” read the tweet
The Detectives are also pursuing two other suspects believed to be Osman’s accomplices in the fake money printing syndicate.
The suspect is set to be arraigned in court later today.
In September, police stormed a popular club in Kilimani, Nairobi, and seized fake 1 million US dollars and 147 fake gold bars.
