Demolitions Kick Off In Huruma, Residents Forcefully Evicted (Pictures)


demos (7)The demolition of the over 200 houses marked as unsafe has already began in Huruma slums.

Residents who had not yet moved from the mrked houses were forcefully evicted to pave way for the demolitions.

Paul Mwangi Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Works yesterday stated that the buildings to be demolished are specifically in Dagoretti, Umoja, Thika Road, South B, Zimmerman and Huruma.

Huruma has the highest number of condemned buildings at 58, followed by Zimmerman with 28.

Meanwhile a section of residents from Huruma whose houses are set to be demolished have raised concerns over the short notice saying they are barely prepared to move.
