Demonstrations in Githurai over boy who disappeared in the hands of police – VIDEO

A section of Githurai residents today held demonstration to protest the mysterious disappearance of a young man in the hands of police officers.

The residents lit tyres and barricaded roads in the morning protest that lasted hours.

The residents claim that Denis Kimonda was picked by police officers on Tuesday last week and has since then never been seen.

According to Fredrick Ochieng a resident who spoke to Ghetto Radio, police claim that Kimonda was a Mungiki, an allegation that they have denied.

“We are here demonstrating because our friend and a youth was picked by police officers last week on Tuesday and he has since not returned. The police claim he is Mungiki, but we know who the Mungikis are,” said Ocheing.

“Yes Mungikis are in Githurai, but they are not here, they are on the other side and they are colluding with the police to try and kick the youth out of this stage,” he stated.

Ochieng says that they have looked for Kimonda in several police stations, in Kasarani, Juja, Thika and even Murang’a with no success.

“Some of the youth being harassed here are football player, some are boxers. They arrest them then claim that they are Mungiki,” he claimed.

They have stated that they will not relent with the protests until Kimonda is produced dead or alive.
