After days of waiting and speculation Diamond has finally named Singeli star, D Voice as his newest signee at Wasafi joining the likes of Zuchu, Mbosso and Lavalava.
Singeli is a quite different kind of music which comprises fast-paced beats, rigorous keyboarding and drums cherished mostly in Uswahilini.
However, the genre is fast gaining dominance as Diamond has set his sights on the market.
Swahili Themed Night
The unveiling took place at Masaki Dome in Dar es Sallam in a Swahili themed night.
Swahili dishes were served in celebrating the rich culture while the dress code was more African with a little borrowing from the West.
Diamond led from the front, he wore a knee-long Ankara shorts with a mini coat with details of the matching fabric, he completed the look with a matching hat and stepped on black timberland boots.
Dangote tugged along his sweetheart Zuchu who also wore an amazing African outfit with thigh-long boots.
Before the showpiece, the only-invite audience was treated to a few performances from Barnaba Classic, Taarab Star, Khadija Kopa.
The bare feet walking wordsmith, Mrisho Mpoto also wowed with his Swahili recital.
Diamond was then invited to the podium where he sought to address his choice in D Voice.
According to the Wasafi supremo, D Voice was not only a gifted writer but also a versatile singer.
His outward appeal was also artistic making him easy to sell.
Soon a countdown rolled beginning from 10 going downwards.
As he stepped out, D Voice began by thanking his maker for the milestone.
What followed next the floor was now D Voice’s to unleash performances from his album, Swahili Kid.
The Kuachana Shingapi singer gave out a number including his collaboration with his boss, Diamond.
Many had hoped that teen sensation, Founder Tz would be the main man however, it turned out otherwise.
In his speech Diamond noted that come next year Wasafi will unveil another artist.
