Did Sauti Sol Steal “Live And Die” Beats From Hit Soap Opera Escrava Isaura? (Watch)
Did you love watching Soap Operas such as ‘The Bold&The Beautiful’ back when Kenya had only 3 major TV stations??
How about learning that Sauti Sol’s latest single,Live and Die in Africa beats are originally from an ancient soap opera on KBC which eventually went viral?
As a matter of facts, “Escrava Isaura Capitulo” was so popular that that it underwent a rerun record of 5 times before the station acknowledged that the viewers had watched enough.
It is so apparent that anyone can tell the beats are not originally Sauti Sol’s. From the beginning to the end Live and Die In Africa hit is all the hit Soap Opera Escrava Isaura.
The debate over the content originality of our local artist has always been questioned to be a constant factor why Nigerian and South African music is dominant on our airwaves at the expense of our very own. The latest victims being Sauti Sol.
Last year an upcoming artiste by the stage name Parroty allegedly accused the group of stealing the released hit ‘Sura yako’ instrumentals.
Sauti Sol however denied ever meeting Parroty or even communicating with him.
We are yet to establish if the beats were stolen or borrowed as our efforts to reach Sauti Sol’s Manager Anyiko Owoko for comments were futile.
Check out and compare the two videos. Be the Judge!!!
