Disabled woman with seven children kicked out of her house in Dandora
As the country continues to bear the brunt of Covid-19, a disabled single mother of seven was thrown out of her house on Saturday over rent arrears in Dandora Phase 1.
The woman has been forced to live outside the plot near the Dandora PCEA Church with her seven children despite the harsh weather conditions.
Grace Kinuthia a human rights activist says that the said woman was working as a hawker and her business was affected by the coronavirus situation.
“The woman’s name is Milka. When coronavirus struck, she was kicked out of the CBD. She is out in the cold, she is being rained on, her stuff are also being rained on. We are afraid that the children might catch pneumonia,” said Kinuthia.
Kinuthia says that well wishers have been trying to help her with food, but they currently seem overwhelmed as her situation is very dire.
“Her landlord said that she does not want to see her again. her children are almost turning into street children. It is a very painful situation, i shed tears sometimes when i pass there,” said Kinuthia.
She says that they are afraid that they might turn to crime in a bid to make ends meet.
