Nairobi City County Government will now use Ksh 1.2 in funding Dishi na County program that is geared towards ensuring that all children in public schools are fed.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has been advocating for the program after its launch in Roysambu.
Reading the budget estimates before the house CEC Finance Mr. Charles Kerich stressed the vitality of the program.
He says Ksh. 1.2 Billion will be used to purchase food while Ksh. 500 Million will be used in construction of additional kitchens and service sheds.
Nutrition of School Going Children

Sakajas’ first budget has also allocated Ksh. 1.1 Billion for roads and another Ksh. 800 Million on solid waste management. Kshs1.2Billion for food, Kshs.500 Million for construction of serving sheds”

Green Nairobi, Clean environment
To support environment water and natural resources responding to climate change; Kshs 800Million for solid waste management, Kshs600Million for tree planting.
Kshs. 100 Million for borehole drilling and equipping procurement of water tanks, and extension of sewer systems.
The County Government is targeting 19.99 billion from its own revenue while another 20 billion shillings.
MCAs Reaction
Majority leader Peter Imwatok applauded the executive’s budget plan and its entirety asking MCAs to now take their oversight role seriously.
“It’s a great day and we have to give our governor this budget so that he delivers to Nairobians to executive we shall oversight you as required by the law without fear or favour,” he told the plenary.
“We have a good budget and we shall follow closely the implementation process, we have worked closely to ensure our people get the best budget. The WDF, bursary and other programs have massive allocation,” Budget Chairperson Wilfred Odalo said.
