DP Ruto’s allies kicked out of Powerful positions in the Senate
The Jubilee party on Tuesday made changes to its leadership at the Senate as the party’s purge continues.
In a media briefing at Jubilee house, Senate majority whip Senator Irungu Kang’ata announced the new changes axing DP William Ruto’s allies.
Senator Christopher Lang’at (Bomet)has been replaced at the House Business Committee by Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja. Lang’at also lost his post as Education Committee chairman to Senator Alice Milgo.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei was also removed as chairman of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.
Meru Senator Linturi Mithika also lost his membership at the powerful Senate County Public Accounts and Investment Committee. Linturi has been replaced by Senator Fatuma Dullo.
John Kinyua will also lose his position as the chairman of the Devolution Committee as former Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen will now be a member of the Devolution Committee.
The changes according to Kang’ata have been communicated to the Senate speaker Ken Lusaka for immediate implementation.
Speaking during the same briefing, Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju announced that the party will show no mercy as it moves to crack the whip on Members of Parliament who have shown disloyalty to the party.
“We will deal with those errant members. When it is Members of Parliament we expect 100% fidelity to the contract they signed with the party. And we do have those contracts available for any inspection. When they were going for elections they said they were going to support the party. They hanged on the goodwill of the party to get their positions. For them to now change tact midstream is nothing but betrayal of the party,”
