DPP Wants Court To Cancel Jowie Irungu’s Bond

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has requested the High Court in Nairobi to cancel the bail granted to Jowie Irungu.

The DPP also requested the High court to return Jowie to the Kamiti Maximum Prison for violating the terms of his bail.

According to the DPP, Jowie was involved in a physical fight with Rodgers Okuga at 1824 club in Langata in March this year.

“On March 7 while at 1824 Jowie assaulted Rodgers Okuta but even though the complaint was withdrawn, it is quite clear that he has proceeded to commit a similar offence or crime resulting in bodily injury of another person while out on bail,” the affidavit reads.

Jowie was also accused for not living with his parents in Nakuru as he was ordered by the court while being granted bail.

“I have confirmed that the accused does not live with parents at Nguta Estate Nakuru County and does not assist his parents with their poultry farming as he is not living with them,” Otieno said.

The DPP also accused Jowie for going against the rules for not discussing or commenting anything to deal with the murder case.

The DPP says that Jowie gave interviews and stories of the murder case in two different Youtube interviews.

Jowie was previously accused with the murder of a lady Monica Kimani alongside former Presenter Jackie Maribe where he pleaded not guilty.

The ruling of whether Jowie’s bond will be revoked or not will be delivered on September 8th 2021.
