The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has terminated criminal case brought about member of Nairobi County Assembly.

The prosecuting counsel Anderson Gikunda told the court that criminal charges against Absalom Odhiambo Onyango have been withdrawn under section 87(a) of the criminal procedure code (CPC.

The defence lawyer Martina Swiga thanked the prosecution for considering their application for reconciliation and affirmed that the accused person needs to be taken through rehabilitation and acceptances into the society.

MCA to be taken through rehabilitation

“I want tho thank the court and the DPP for being kind to us to consider the application, I want to apologise on behalf of my client and assure the court that we will take him through rehabilitation before he is released back to the society.”Lawyer Martina Swiga told the trial magistrate Lucas Onyina.

The MCA had been charged with incitement to violence,as a result parties went for reconciliation process which gave rise to matter to be withdrawn.

Onyango was captured in a viral video inciting Azimio supporters to stage protests in the capital in a bid to force out President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration over alleged electoral fraud.
