There was drama in Kakamega yesterday after the mother of one of the girls demanded that she takes away her daughter Mevis Imbaya.
Angeline Omina intercepted the three girls when they were headed to to Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya’s office.
Accompanied by police officers, Omina demanded that she be given her biological daughter Mevis Imbaya.
Mevies however attempted to refuse to go with her mother, threatening to commit suicide if she was separated from the other twins Sharon and Melon.
DNA tests results released last week revealed that Sharon and Melon are biological sisters, whereas Mevies, was the daughter of the couple that lived in Nairobi’s Kawangware area.
Police however could not intervene in the situation stating that Mrs. Omina was right to take back her daughter.
“Omina left for Nairobi with Mevies. As law enforcement agents, there is nothing much we can do, given she is her biological mother,” said Kakamega County Police Commander Bernard Muli.
