Traffic Police Officers have intensified their crackdown against drunk driversi in Nairobi just a few days after stern warning by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.
Tuesday night saw a number of drunk drivers along Lang’ata Road arrested and taken to the Kilimani Police Station.
John Kimeu one of the drivers arrested claimed that the police demanded bribes from them before taking them to the police station.
The seemingly Kimeu who refused to record a statement insisted that he was not going to give the police any bribes and was willing to go to court.
“I was driving along Lang’ata and we were about 50 people in the police truck, but u ended up here alone. I will give the police zero bribe,” said Kimeu.
Some drunk drivers were also arrested along Kiambu Road during the crackdown.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet stated that hi officers will work night and day to arrest drunk drivers.
