EABL Criticised Over Move To Counter Tax Increase
A group civil society actors has come out to strongly criticise East Africa Breweries Limited’s move of asking the government not to sign the 15 percent tax increase imposed on cigarettes and alcoholic products.
EABL in a sponsored feature article on a local newspaper article had asked the government not to sign the 15 percent tax increase imposed by former finance CS Henry Rotich.
David Makamu of Non Communicable Diseases Alliance of Kenya further criticised the move saying that alcohol industries are after sales but not not public health interest.
They are now appealing on the president to assent to the finance bill with 15 percent increment as it is to protect the health of many Kenyans.
