Police on Wednesday battled hawkers and shop owners in Eastleigh Nairobi as the two sides clashed over who has the right to trade where.
Hawkers on one hand maintain they have a right to do their business without interference this is after the court allowed hawkers to sell wares on the streets.
But shop owners want them out of their way arguing that they not only block customers from accessing their shops, but they are contributing to the anarchy in Eastleigh further intimating to move to court to appeal the court order.
Eastleigh Business District Association chairman Ibrahim Hussein said the traders have resolved to close down their malls from Thursday to protest the court order.
He further refuted claims that they are hiring armed youths to protect their shops and termed them as rumors saying that they only involve security guards to secure their shops from the rowdy youths.
