Four schools have been closed so far by the ministry of education.Speaking in Mombasa education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha says the purge will continue and that 1500 officers have been to help unearth all the unsafe schools.
‘‘So far we have closed 4 schools and we have officers country wide monitoring this..and we have given them instructions to inspect the buildings and ensure they are safe for learning.’’ He said.
In his today’s raid Magoha shut down Greenfield Academy a school that hosts 445 pupils and the children have been to Umoja Primary school.
‘‘We have good facilities here in Umoja public school..enough water, wonderful buildings and all teachers we want to encourage them to come and continue with their studies here.’’ Magoha stated.
He has called upon community and media to report any cases of schools in risky state to ministry of education for action to be taken promptly.
Meanwhile the owner of Precious Talent Top School Moses Ndirangu has been detained for 15 days.
Making the ruling on Friday, Kibera Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani ordered police to get reports from Ministry of Education and Urban Planning.
However Ndirangus’ legal team opposed the move saying the accused did not have any direct contact with concerned government institutions.
