- The change will alter the way media companies and publishers share content to X
Elon Musk has made new changes to X the social network formerly known as twitter,
The site and its apps will no longer display the headline for articles that are shared to X.
Links posted on Twitter now appear as the image included in the article, as well as text in the left-hand corner of the image noting the domain of the link.
If users want to visit the page, they must click the image, but it only appears slightly different to how images uploaded to the site appear.
Elon Musk continued changes
Back in August, Musk said the change was in the works,
He also revealed that he’s not a fan of links posted to X since they drive people off the service and that the platform’s content algorithm deprioritizes links.
“Our algorithm tries to optimize time spent on X, so links don’t get as much attention, because there is less time spent if people click away.” Musk added,
Musk is promising to turn the messaging and social media service into an app that does much more than it does now, including payments.
Musk And Media companies
Elon Musk’s social media platform X stripping stripped headlines from news articles shared by users, in a move likely to further worsen relations with media groups.
The tycoon has long railed against the “legacy media” and claims X, formerly Twitter, is a better source of information.
The change will alter the way media companies and publishers share content to X, since without the headline appearing below the image, a post will lack context unless the headline is included as the text of the post (or unless the headline is included in the image shared with the article).
