Embakasi East Politician Francis Mureithi now wants government to to pay general damages to all the families who lost their loved ones in the Embakasi gas explosion.

In a petition filed at the Milimani law court the law maker argued that the Nairobi City County and national government failed in its duty to protect the people in Miradi area in Embakasi East Constituency.

’An order for exemplary damages payable to families who lost loved ones as well as residents of Mradi area in Embakasi East Constituency in within Nairobi County who were injured either physically or mentally, suffered loss or damage to their properties as a result of the LPG blast or were impacted in any manner
ones as well as those affected residents of Mradi area in Embakasi East Constituency in within Nairobi County who were injured either physically or mentally, suffered loss or damage to their properties as a result of the explosion,”reads court papers

He also wants the court to give the victims alternative land, shelter and/or accommodation of reasonable standards until they are able to get on with their lives as before.

Those named as respondents in the case include NEMA,AG,Ministry of Energy among others.

He says that the respondents jointly and severally violated the rights of the residents of Mradi area in Embakasi East Constituency in within Nairobi County and in particular violated their rights as enshrined under Articles 26, 26, 29(f), 40, 42, 43 53 and 57 of the Constitution.

Mureithi contested for the Embakasi East constituency seat and lost to the incumbent Babu Owino
