Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has ordered anti tax protest that has been organised by Gen Z to end by sunset.
According to the tough talking Cs, they will not allow any demonstrations beyond 6.30 pm evening.
Kindiki however, stated that Kenyans were actually exercising their rights as stipulated in the constitution but those rights are limited by the same Constitution.
He further warned that the protesters must be peaceful and unarmed.
“The protesters must stop their activities at sunset or at 6.30pm whichever is earlier in accordance with the Public Order Act (Cap 57)…They must make sure that the enjoyment of these rights does not prejudice the rights and freedoms of others,” he affirmed.’’ Kindiki said.
Meanwhile he assured Kenyans that Police will not interfere with any peaceful demos.
“They must make sure that the enjoyment of these rights does not prejudice the rights and freedoms of others.They must not interfere with road rail, sea or air transport in any manner whatsoever. Whatever the demands, the issues, grievances or whatever the matter, the rule of law and public order must be maintained by all persons,” he said.
“They must also follow any other guidelines or law enforcement officers to ensure they are protected from non-protestors or infiltrators,” the CS added.
