Eric Omondi apologizes to Ezekiel Mutua over ‘wife material’
Comedian and CEO of Big Tyme Entertainment Eric Omondi has apologized to Kenya Film Classification Board’s (KFCB) Ezekiel Mutua for the vulgarity in his show ‘wife material’.
Omondi who spent the night at Central Police station following his arrest on Thursday, said he had spoken to Ezekiel Mutua about the show’s content.
“I have had a very long phone call with my very good friend Daktari Ezekiel Mutua and he is of the very strong opinion that #WifeMaterial does not have to be dirty to sell. I completely agree with him and I have sent him a personal apology,” said Omondi in a social media post.
The controversial comedian said his intention was to entertain and not offend anyone.
“The whole idea behind #WifeMaterial is to bring East Africa and Africa together through Entertainment…The Vision is to take over Africa and the Dream is to lift the East African and Kenyan flags to the World and that requires a rigorous and vigorous creative process,” the post read.
In the post, Eric promised to do better.
“The creative process can be long and tedious and whenever a new idea is born it comes with a lot of teething problems,” said Omondi.
Omondi and the show’s contestants were arrested on Thursday evening by KFCB Compliance Officers and the DCI for producing and distributing unauthorized films.
They were released on Friday after securing a sh.50,000 police bond.
After release, Omondi is set to appear in court on Thursday 18th March to respond to the charges.
